How Does Hand-Drawn Art Appeal to You?

How Does Hand-Drawn Art Appeal to You?

You may notice that some of the tableware here at Potterymarketto have patterns and pictures drawn on them. All of those are hand-drawn!  We’re not saying there is anything wrong with beautiful printed art. In fact, there are many merits to it. We here at Potterymarketto have just narrowed down our focus to hand-drawn or painted tableware.

We feel that having hand-drawn art on pieces gives them a warm touch and adds depth to the experience of owning them. On one piece alone, you may see color and shapes vary in depth depending on what part you are viewing, lighting in the room, or even the angle you are viewing it from due to the movement of the artist’s brushstrokes at that particular moment of creation. This differs a bit from having the same image stamped on your piece mechanically. A handmade craft ensures that each piece is unique, and because of that, you have the one and only one! This makes these types of pieces even more special and meaningful.  Artisans put their hearts into making each of their pieces and you will feel their care and craftsmanship when you hold them in your hands.

Some people tell us they hesitate to use their handmade pieces as everyday tableware because they are afraid of breaking their precious items. We understand this feeling, as it shows you really cherish your unique items. Have confidence in yourself though, and don’t hesitate to use them regularly. You will get so much more out of your piece through the experience of using it everyday; just like we do in Japan. So please take your lovely pieces out of your cupboard and use them everyday on your dinner table! It will add color, depth, and joy to your meal time for sure. You deserve it!
