Chopsticks of Wajima Lacquerware with Mother of Pearl (Two in a SET)

In old Japan, it was believed that used chopsticks contained the spirit of the person using them. It was thought that the chopsticks became that person’s alter ego, and thus were a connection to the divine.  Therefore, instead of sharing chopsticks, each person usually owns their own dedicated pair at home.  They are not even shared between husband and wife, or parent and child!  Someone else’s chopsticks are never used at home.
Why don’t you purchase your own pair of chopsticks and make your meals a little more personal and special. You can also add a pop of color!

Japanese Lacquerware, like what you see here, really says “Japan” to many people overseas! Wajima ware is one of the popular lacquerwares in Japan and it has very specific requirements. The basic material must be natural wood. The wood is then covered in places with fabric to strengthen the piece. Lastly, the base coating must be made of ground powder. Here you can see some Wajima ware chopsticks that we have brought to you!  They are adorned with lacquer and mother of pearl inlay. The look is so refined yet still so traditionally Japanese! They come with not low price though, they worth every penny!
