Earthenware Cup with Hand-Drawn Camellia Drawn by Zoho-gama
Earthenware Cup with Hand-Drawn Camellia Drawn by Zoho-gama
Here we have lovely cups in two colors with camellia flowers drawn on them. They’re perfect for soup, coffee or even foods like ice cream and yogurt. There are many options with a versatile cup like this.
Camellia had captured people’s hearts since ancient and now we still see them everywhere and also as a popular motif for tableware in Japan like this cup.
What I really like about camellia is it is written 椿 in kanji which is composed of 木(tree) and 春(spring); how endearing! It is a tree blooming in anticipation of the arrival of spring during the coldest time of winter! In this way, the camellia is considered a symbol of perseverance, vitality, and good luck. This chopstick rest really brings warmth to your table, just like when spring is coming. It’s a beautiful reminder to have hope even when things seem dark and cold
You can see our two beautiful color choices here. Both glazes were invented in the Mino district where these cups were made. The darker green glaze is a well-known one in Japan called Oribe. The other glaze, Nezumi Shino, creates a lovely grayish color. Both glazes result in a rich, warm touch. I keep thinking of how nice it would be to use these cups on a snowy winter day, surrounded by the warm comforts of my house and good coffee. These cups truly encompass a hygge vibe while being strikingly artistic at the same time.
